Magic Mouthwash – Common Formulas and Recipes

Magic mouthwash is a concoction that aims to speed up the healing process of mouth ulcers. Different mouthwash solutions endeavor to work on different symptoms. In addition to above basic formula, another local analgesic ingredient Lidocaine can be added to the above recipe. Many magic mouthwash formulas combine diphenhydramine hydrochloride and lidocaine together. They can be used individually as well. However, together they work as power dose of painkiller.
2) Another common formula easily found in the market includes lidocaine hydrochloride, nystatin and tetracycline hydrochloride. This formula is usually prescribed for major mouth ulcers that could potentially develop into serious disease or are vulnerable to secondary infection. Apart for earlier described compounds, inclusion of tetracycline hydrochloride work as an antibiotic agent. Tetracycline is an antibiotic that slows down the bacterial protein creation in the body.
3) Dyclonine, Chlorpheniramine, hydrocortisone formula is effective in treating serious sores. Dyclonine works as antifungal agent and protects from development of other infections. Hydrocortisone is a steroid that helps reduce inflammation and Chlorpheniramine works as an antihistamine that stops growth and spread of allergic reactions in the body.
4) Benadryl, Maalox and Lidocaine mix is a popular blend that is easily available as over the counter magic mouthwash. Benadryl is an antihistamine. It is popularly used in homemade mouthwash as well. Benadryl mixed with Maalox or Mylanta is an easy home remedy mouthwash for treating lesions. Maalox or Mylanta work as an antacid that aids in soothing the irritation of the mouth sores and Lidocaine is an excellent analgesic that sooths the painful lesions.
